Welcome

"Great Is Thy Faithfulness--Morning By Morning New Mercies I See."

We greet you in the saving name of Jesus the Christ.  Our service here has witnessed the faithfulness of God in ways too vast to detail.  We know through our labors that God has brought us a long way.  Every morning we have seen his new mercies, and we rejoice.  Our work has been continuous, sometimes arduous, always worthwhile.  We have seen the faithfulness of God working in our congregation in that souls have been saved, obligations have been met, and the adversary has been disappointed on numerous occasions--thanks be to God.  At Mount Zion, we share the word of God, and we demonstrate how it influences the living of these days.  We teach Biblical principles of living in word and in deed.  And consequently we have seen how God has worked in the lives of our people, making them more trusting and faithful disciples.  We are grateful to God.

We demolished the old Mount Zion in 2000, and were out of our sanctuary for 13 months.  Clairmont Presbyterian Church, a church within our community allowed us to worship in their assembly hall each Sunday morning.  In addition, neighboring St. Paul Baptist church allowed us to hold our meetings and Bible Studies during the times we were out of our sanctuary.  It was part of God's mercy shed upon us.  The building was completed and dedicated in 2001.  The whole project is a testimony to what happens when people pray and trust God.  In spite of the obstacles we faced, we trusted God, and He was faithful to us.  Today we have a beautiful edifice that we are rapidly outgrowing, and we are glad about it.  We want to grow and to share the love of Christ with all we meet.

Our task is to embrace the lost and to transform the found.  It is my vision that all our programs and activities should be focused around Jesus' imperative "to seek out and to save the lost." (Luke 19:10).  As stated in our Annual Report: Our efforts don't rest with salvation.  Our congregation is intent on transforming the lives of our members and friends who are in Christ, that they might become, day by day, more like Christ.  In this way, we are able to influence the world around us.  Pursed through the power of the Holy Spirit, and lived out in worship, our dual ministry-emphasis--salvation and transformation--is the foundation upon which all of our efforts and activities rest.

We are about God's business in the vineyard.  We want you to know that you are always invited to walk this road with us.  This is a place where we all are part of the family of God, striving to be the people God wants us to be.  To God be the glory.

"The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.  "The Lord is my portion," says my soul, "therefore I will hope in him.""  Lamentations 3:22-24

Yours in Christ's Service,
